Ms.Sleigh holds a Bachelor's of Music in Music Education from the University of Nevada, Reno and a Master's of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting (Wind Studies) from the California State University, Sacramento. While at UNR, she was very active in bands and choirs where she has performed in venues as wide-ranging as the college bowl games to Carnegie Hall. A variety of abilities and interests have given her the opportunity to both perform and direct musical theatre, serve as a vocal coach for the Reno Irish Dance Company, and 2008, her barbershop quartet finished 4th in the Sweet Adeline's International Rising Star Competition. As a clarinet/saxophone player, she continues to play in local community bands and ensembles all over the Sacramento and surrounding areas; and is a founding member of the Speakeazy Jazz Orchestra. She has been a guest conductor with the Amador County Concert Band, and conducted the Amador-Calaveras Bi-County Junior High Honor Band. Upon her graduation in 2011 from CSU Sacramento, she was the youngest female to graduate from the instrumental conducting (wind studies) program under the baton and mentorship of Dr. Robert Halseth. In addition, her conducting studies have allowed her to work with Dr. Mallory Thompson of Northwestern University, Eugene Corporon of the University of North Texas, and most recently, Dr. Gary Hill of Arizona State University. In 2012, she accepted a teaching position at Lindhurst High School as their Director of Music where she teaches band, percussion ensemble, piano, choir and intro to musical theatre. Thanks to her efforts, Ms.Sleigh has begun to resurrect the music program not only at Lindhurst, but also helped to bring music education back into the junior high and elementary programs of the Marysville Joint Unified School District. Lastly, Ms. Sleigh currently serves on the board of the Norther California Band and Choir Directors Association as one of two Choir Representatives. She wishes to thank all of her various families for their continued love and support in all her endeavors; with special thanks to her superman for his continued love, patience and support.
